Role Overview

Powerex Corp., a fast-paced, dynamic, wholly owned energy marketing subsidiary of BC Hydro, has a full-time opportunity for a Market Policy Analyst to join our Trade Policy team. In this role, you will join a team responsible for the ongoing evaluation and identification of potential market, regulatory, and public policy issues relevant to Powerex and its business.

What you will do:
* Monitor emerging and ongoing policy and legislative developments, market issues and trends, throughout North America, focusing on clean energy and the jurisdictions in which Powerex does business
* Stay informed of policy development and regulatory proceedings, effectively communicate relevant information, and ensure timely filing of submissions
* Assist with the development of policy analysis, propose solutions, and review submissions and related materials

* Starting salary range $90,000 to $110,000 subject to experience and qualifications

Candidate profile:
* Experience with and for a keen interest in policy analysis and research
* Proven strong business communication skills
* A self-starter who thrives on individual projects
* Experience with or knowledge of one or more of the following areas would be an asset: clean energy policy, energy regulation, electricity trade and markets, public utilities, environmental policy, the natural gas industry, and the renewable/carbon industry (along with the associated U.S. and Canadian regulatory and policy environments)
* Degree in Public Policy, Economics, Law, or a similar area, preferred
* This position involves occasional travel within Canada and the US and working outside normal working hours/days
