Powerex Corp., a fast-paced, dynamic, wholly owned energy marketing subsidiary of BC Hydro, is seeking a full-time, permanent Credit Risk Analyst to join our Credit Risk team. The Role:

  • Assess the creditworthiness of trading counterparties and recommend appropriate credit limits, supported by analysis of financial statements and other associated research.

  • Measure and monitor counterparty credit exposure daily and take prescribed actions to mitigate exposure if needed.

  • Prepare and monitor daily, monthly, and ad-hoc reports to ensure compliance with credit risk policies and procedures.

  • Model and evaluate potential credit exposure for proposed transactions.

  • Develop, evaluate, and implement new processes and tools to support other credit team activities and initiatives sparked by evolving business requirements.

  • Negotiate credit provisions within master agreements and related instruments to mitigate potential credit risk.

Candidate Profile:

  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience involving risk analysis and/or financial accounting.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent.  A Master's or professional designation is considered a plus (CPA/CFA or equivalent).

  • Solid foundation of financial statement analysis.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated ability to consolidate large amounts of data and information into a succinct format.

  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and collaborative work environment where shifting priorities need to be managed around tasks with defined timelines.

  • Highly proficient in Word and Excel.

  • Experience evaluating and negotiating contractual terms is considered an asset.
