Summer Intern / Co-op Student Program
Powerex believes in developing students to grow the next leaders for our Trade Floor and other units across the company. Current university students gain valuable technical and soft skills during their time in one of Powerex’s dynamic teams. Here they will be challenged to put what they have learned in the classroom into practical use, and to take back new skills for their final years.
Co-op placements are typically 8-months and are available in many of our teams – check out your school's website for current openings, or submit your resume and cover letter to our general co-op position.

My 8-month Co-op term at Powerex with the Market Risk team was an invaluable learning experience. I got the opportunity to work on meaningful projects which helped improve business processes and impacted business decision making. These projects helped me understand the business, energy trading industry, as well as develop transferable technical skills. Despite the steep learning curve, I really appreciate the people-oriented culture and supportive working environment at Powerex, with everyone at the firm always willing to share their knowledge and help me grow. I even got the opportunity to meet my colleagues at events outside of the work environment which helped me build meaningful relationships at the firm. Overall, the work-life balance, supportive environment, stimulating work and the complex structure of the energy trading industry contributed to an amazing Co-op experience at Powerex.
Through a highly interpersonal culture and a dynamic work environment, Powerex provided a challenging yet engaging learning experience. From my first day, all my co-workers went out of their way to welcome me and help ensure I settled in quickly, thereby demonstrating the positive atmosphere present at the company. Equally, I was encouraged to take on responsibility and pursue projects that contributed to our team and created value for the company. As a result, Powerex provided a unique experience which combined hands-on problem-solving and cooperation with a knowledgeable and welcoming family.
