British Columbia has a proud legacy of clean hydroelectric generation that has been powering the province for over 100 years. Beginning in 1988, Powerex has been the exclusive marketer of BC Hydro’s clean surplus power and surplus capabilities. Since then, Powerex has grown its business to include clean power supply from many sources including hydroelectric and wind generation in the US Pacific Northwest. Today Powerex meets the many needs of our customers across the energy and environmental product spectrum while providing economic benefits for British Columbia, including helping to keep electricity rates affordable for BC ratepayers. We are one of the longest operating companies in the business.
Today Powerex is a highly trusted and reliable energy trading partner and a market leader in western Canada, the western United States and is a growing player in markets across North America.
At Powerex we work hard to make a difference in people's lives, providing our customers -- utilities, power pools, large industrials, and power marketers -- with the energy products and services they need, when and where they need them. At Powerex we work as a team to be successful in this continually evolving, fast paced industry. We believe in supporting our people, so they grow in their careers and at Powerex. We have a strong culture of mentorship, coaching and professional development. To learn more about the benefits of working at Powerex click here.
What Will You Learn -
Summer Intern / Co-op Student Program
Powerex believes in developing students to grow the next leaders for our Trade Floor and other units across the company. Current university students gain valuable technical and soft skills during their time in one of Powerex’s dynamic teams. Here they will be challenged to put what they have learned in the classroom into practical use, and to take back new skills for their final years.
Co-op placements are typically 8-months and are available in many of our teams – check out your school's website for current openings, or submit your resume and cover letter to our general co-op position.
Summer Interns will spend 2-4 months supporting one of our many teams, please connect directly with Jake Howard (firstname.lastname@example.org) to express interest.
