Authorizations & Permits

 

Powerex has the necessary authorizations and permits from both Canadian and U.S. regulators to enable us to buy and sell energy (power and natural gas) and environmental products with wholesale energy trading partners across Canada, the U.S. and as far south as Mexico, including:


Power

Canadian Energy Regulator Permits: Allowing for the export of power from Canada to the U.S. at all major interconnections across the country.

U.S. Department of Energy Permits: Allowing for the export of power from the U.S. into Canada and Mexico at all major interconnections.

U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Market-Based Rate Authorization: Allowing delivery of market-priced power from Canada directly to our U.S. customers, and the purchase and sale of power at market-based rates anywhere in the U.S.

Reliability Regions, Power Pools and Independent System Operators (ISOs): Powerex is authorized as a market participant in Reliability Regions, Power Pools and ISOs across North America.


Natural Gas

Canadian Energy Regulator Permits:  Allowing for the export of natural gas from Canada to the U.S. and the import of natural gas from the U.S. to Canada at all major interconnections across the country.

U.S. Department of Energy Permits: Allowing for import of natural gas from Canada into the U.S. and export of natural gas from the U.S. into Canada and Mexico at all major interconnections.
